I do have an account - I’m able to log into the website version but am not able to log into the desktop version as it gives me the incorrect user name/password message when I try to do that. Just for background info, I don’t currently have Ankiweb anywhere except my Windows desktop at this point. I have numerous decks I’ve created and have gone through each deck several times, so I don’t want to lose everything I already have and all the time I’ve spent. And I’m not logged in on the desktop app to begin with so that may be why that’s not showing.Īt this point, I have never logged into the desktop app. However, for some reason, I don’t have that option listed in the Network tab. I read some comments in the Anki Reddit forum that suggested going to Preferences and then in the Network tab, selecting the Deauthorize option. I am able to log in on an internet browser, but when I try to log into the app on my Windows desktop, it gives me the error message “AnkiWeb ID or password was incorrect please try again.” If you add them to a software that limits the possible choices to 4, you've just given yourself a dishonest handicap, and always know less than it says you do, which lowers the value of the software itself.I just started using AnkiWeb last week. Quizlet doesn't qualify as an alternative because it doesn't meet the minimum standard of requiring you to know the material in order to pass the card. If this job is for the government, it becomes a crime. On the other hand, if the real test has poorly written (false positive) questions, you can get a certificate without knowing the material, and get a job under false pretenses, which is bad for the company as they get less value out of you, and then bad for you because you may get fired. If you have enough poorly written (false positive) questions, it can cause you to fail a subject. If the question was in your own study material, it's a waste of your own time giving you false confidence so you can fail later on the real test question. If the first question was given to the class, it's a free point and waste of everyone's time, but fair. If you have a multiple choice test and you use process of elimination - What is the scientific name for a wolf? A) house, B) tree, C) rock, D) canis lupus - you can fail the question when you can't use process of elimination - A) canis latrans, B) canis vulpes, C) canis lupus, D) canis rufus. Having an unfair advantage over your peers (rich parents, more time, higher IQ, not being religiously exempt from drinking coffee, ADRB1/DEC2 sleep genes, etc.) isn't cheating, passing a test without knowing the material is. It's not about my needs, it's about academic dishonesty, which has real consequences.
